The Family

Three Generations. One Bloodline.

Afrika Boerboels is a family operation rooted in Derdepoort, Pretoria. Founded by Hannes in 1993, the kennel has grown into one of South Africa's most respected Boerboel breeding programmes.

Machel manages breeding operations, health protocols, and international client relationships. Karlien handles puppy socialisation, documentation, and day-to-day kennel management.

This is not a commercial breeding operation. It is a family programme built on genuine passion for the Boerboel breed and an unwavering commitment to the SABBS breed standard.

Our Journey

Three Decades of Breeding Excellence

1993

Hannes acquires his first Boerboel from established South African lines. The Afrika Boerboels programme begins in Derdepoort, Pretoria.

1998

First SABBS registration achieved. The kennel establishes its foundation breeding stock and begins structured breeding programme.

2005

Afrika Buddy born — the foundation male who would define the Afrika bloodline for the next two decades. First international export to Namibia.

2010

Expanded breeding programme with Machel joining full-time. International exports to the Middle East begin. Multiple appraisal awards achieved.

2016

Karlien joins the kennel operations. Export programme expands to Europe, USA, and Australia. Kennel recognised for consistent litter quality.

2020

Introduction of Aries, Metador, and Sargent to the stud programme. New generation of Afrika bloodline sires established.

2025

Over 30 years of continuous breeding excellence. 12+ countries served. Four champion stud dogs active. The Afrika bloodline continues to define South African breeding standards.

We breed within proven lines. No outcrossing for novelty. Every pairing is calculated to strengthen the Afrika bloodline, maintain genetic diversity, and uphold the SABBS breed standard.

SABBS Registered Kennel

The South African Boerboel Breeders' Society (SABBS) is the premier breed registry for the Boerboel. SABBS registration confirms that a dog meets the breed standard in structure, temperament, and genetic health.

Every Afrika Boerboels puppy is SABBS registered with full documentation including:

Official SABBS registration certificate
Microchip identification number
Vaccination record (weeks 4, 6, 9)
Deworming schedule documentation
Three-generation pedigree
